“Jambo – Tyrol meets Kenya Reloaded” in the Innsbruck dinner club

On 13 March, it was that time again: under the motto ‘Jambo Tyrol meets Kenya’, the MOYO team once again cooked at the dinner club in Integrationshaus.

The dinner club is a series of events organised by Integrationshaus of the Diocese of Innsbruck. Under the motto ‘Eat with us for a good life for all’, people from different cultures come together at cookery evenings, enjoy culinary delicacies and do something good at the same time by collecting donations for a charitable project.

Preparations and shopping began on Thursday afternoon, as more than 90 people had registered for Friday evening. The kitchen was a hive of activity from 2pm on Friday: potatoes had to be peeled and cut, vegetables chopped and the meat roasted. All MOYO board members helped diligently, as the starter was to be served to the guests from 6.30 pm. The menu included carrott, sweet potato and coconut soup, Kuku Paka with ugali (chicken curry with white corn porridge); or Mboga Ya Bizari with ugali (vegetable curry with chickpeas, served with white corn porridge); and banana mousse for dessert.

The evening was a complete success thanks to the commitment of everyone involved, but above all thanks to the active support of our chef, who wishes to remain anonymous. An impressive 1,800 euros in donations were collected, which will now directly benefit the education of needy girls in the Kenyan hinterland. The evening was musically framed by grandios Benedicta from Nigeria.

A big thank you also goes to the Red Aprons, who provided excellent service through their voluntary work, and of course to the host organisation Dinnerclub, who provided the location.

Thank you to all donors!
